1688 - King William's War is fought between New France and New England.

King William's War (1688-1697) was the first of four French and Indian Wars fought between New France and the British colonies in North America.

This war began in 1688 when the British colonies attempted to extend their borders into the French-controlled areas of North America.

The war was fought mainly in Acadia (modern day Nova Scotia and New Brunswick) and along the New England coast.

The French and their Native American allies were pitted against the British colonies and their Native American allies.

The British colonies were supported by the Iroquois Confederacy and other Native American tribes.

The war ended in 1697 with the signing of the Treaty of Ryswick, which restored the borders of New France to those that existed prior to the war.

However, the war had a major impact on the relations between the French and the British colonies, leading to further hostilities in the years to come.
