Benjamin Disraeli was a British Prime Minister, who served twice in the 19th century, from 1868 to 1874 and from 1874 to 1880.
He was born in London, England on December 21, 1804 and was of Jewish descent.
He was a successful novelist and an influential politician, known for his strong conservative views.
Disraeli entered Parliament in 1837 and became a member of the Conservative Party.
He held various posts in the governments of Sir Robert Peel and the Earl of Derby, becoming Prime Minister for the first time in 1868.
He was the first British Prime Minister from a Jewish background.
During his terms as Prime Minister, he passed a number of important social reform laws, particularly the 1867 Second Reform Bill, which extended the franchise for voting in the UK.
