George Canning was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from April 1827 to August 1827.

He was one of the most prominent British statesmen of the 19th century, and the first Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from outside the traditional landed aristocracy.

Canning served as Foreign Secretary from 1807 to 1809 and from 1822 to 1827.

During his tenure as Foreign Secretary, he was responsible for the passing of the Catholic Relief Act of 1829, which granted civil rights to Catholics in the United Kingdom.

He was a key figure in the passing of the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834, which sought to reform the British welfare system.

Canning was also instrumental in the negotiation of the Anglo-Portuguese Treaty of 1810, which ended the Peninsular War.

He was a strong advocate of free trade and an advocate of British imperialism.
