John Major was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1990 to 1997.
He was born in 1943 and raised in Brixton, South London.
He was a Member of Parliament for Huntingdon from 1979 to 2001.
He was the leader of the Conservative Party from 1990 to 1997.
Major was known for his 'One Nation' policy and introduced the Citizen's Charter.
He was also the last Prime Minister to hold office while still a member of the European Community.
In 1997, Major was succeeded by Tony Blair and the Labour Party.
