Sir Anthony Eden was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1955 to 1957.

He was born in Windlestone, County Durham, England in 1897.

He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford.

Eden’s political career began in 1923 when he was elected to the House of Commons as a Conservative.

He held a number of ministerial positions, including Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs from 1935 to 1938.

Eden was the Prime Minister during the Suez Crisis of 1956, a conflict between the UK, France and Israel on one side and Egypt on the other.

Eden resigned as Prime Minister in 1957 due to failing health and public dissatisfaction with his handling of the Suez Crisis.
