Theresa May was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2016 to 2019.

She was the second female Prime Minister in UK history, following Margaret Thatcher.

May was born in Eastbourne, East Sussex, in 1956.

She studied at St Hugh's College, Oxford, and worked for the Bank of England and the Association for Payment Clearing Services.

She was first elected as Member of Parliament for Maidenhead in 1997.

She served in several roles in the Cabinet of Prime Minister David Cameron, including Home Secretary from 2010 to 2016.

May became Prime Minister after Cameron's resignation following the result of the EU Referendum in 2016.
