Biography, UK, Prime Minister, William Grenville, Baron Grenville (1806 to 1807)
William Grenville, Baron Grenville (1759-1834) was a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1806 to 1807.
He was a member of the Whig party and a member of the influential Grenville family.
He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford, before entering the House of Commons in 1782.
He served in various positions in the government, including Home Secretary for a number of years.
In 1806, he became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and held the position until 1807, when he resigned due to a dispute over Catholic emancipation.
After leaving office, he served as Foreign Secretary from 1807 to 1812, and then again from 1815 to 1827.
During his tenure as Foreign Secretary, he negotiated the Treaty of Paris, which ended the War of 1812.
