William Pitt the Elder, Earl of Chatham (1708 - 1778) was a British statesman and politician who served as Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1766 to 1768.

He was born in London, the son of a wealthy politician, Robert Pitt.

He also oversaw the expansion of the British Empire and the establishment of a formal alliance between Britain and Prussia.
