William Pitt the Younger was a British Prime Minister from 1783 to 1801 and from 1804 to 1806.
He was the youngest ever Prime Minister, famously taking office at the age of 24.
He was a proponent of parliamentary reform and the British Empire’s expansion.
Pitt was a member of the Tory party and was at times a controversial figure in the party for his support of France in the Napoleonic Wars.
His tenure as Prime Minister saw an increase in British influence internationally, with his leadership guiding Britain to victory in the Battle of Trafalgar.
He was a major supporter of the abolition of the slave trade, introducing legislation in the House of Commons in 1791 to that effect.
During his two periods in office, Pitt introduced a range of economic reforms, including the lowering of taxes, the introduction of free trade, and the introduction of income tax.
