Gerald Ford was the 38th President of the United States, serving from 1974 to 1977.
He was the first and only President to have never been elected to either the presidency or the vice presidency.
Ford was born Leslie Lynch King Jr. in Omaha, Nebraska and was later renamed after his stepfather, Gerald Rudolph Ford.
Before becoming President, he served as the 40th Vice President of the United States from 1973 to 1974.
Ford also served in the House of Representatives for 25 years, representing Michigan.
During his tenure as president, Ford ended the Vietnam War and signed the Helsinki Accords.
Ford also signed the Economic Stabilization Act in 1975, which established the first federal budget.
