Liu Chuanzhi (born 1944) is a Chinese entrepreneur and the founder of the tech giant Lenovo.
He received his degree in electrical engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology.
After graduation, he began his career with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he founded the research institute, the Institute of Computing Technology.
In 1984, he founded Lenovo and served as its first president until his retirement in 2001.
Under his leadership, Lenovo grew from a small tech startup to one of the world’s largest personal computer makers.
His success at Lenovo also earned him the title of “Father of Chinese Tech Entrepreneurship”.
In 2005, he was inducted into the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology Hall of Fame.
