It is most famous for its large elephant population and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The best time to visit is during the dry season (July - October) when the vegetation is sparse and the animals congregate around the waterholes.

An interesting fact about the park is that it is home to the world's largest elephant population, at over 1,300 individuals.
There are many endangered species in the park, including the African wild dog, Grevy's zebra, and the greater kudu.
The park is also home to a wide variety of interesting plants, including acacias, fever trees, and the bright pink flowers of the kalanchoe.
