Tarangire National Park is located in Tanzania, and was established in 1970.
It is most famous for its huge elephant herds, and is a great place to spot big cats and other African wildlife.
It is best visited during the dry season (July to October) when the animals gather around the Tarangire River.
Key animals to spot include elephants, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, giraffes, and lions.
The park is also home to over 550 bird species.
It is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania.
The park has an interesting history, as its name is derived from the Tarangire River which is named after the local language, Ngindo, and means “river of war.”
