André Citroën (1878-1935) was a French entrepreneur and industrialist.

He was born in Paris in 1878 to a Jewish family of Dutch origin.

He attended the École Polytechnique and the École des Mines de Paris.

In 1919, he founded the Citroën car manufacturing company.

He was the first to mass-produce cars in Europe, and pioneered many modern automotive technologies.

He also opened a number of factories in the Paris region.

He is credited with introducing the modern assembly line to Europe, as well as various marketing techniques.
