She was renowned for her timeless designs, her signature scent Chanel No. 5 and her innovative approach to fashion.

Coco Chanel was the first designer to popularize the use of jersey fabric and she was also one of the first to introduce the concept of the "little black dress".

In the 1920s, Chanel launched her first perfume, Chanel No. 5, which became an instant sensation and has since become one of the world's most iconic fragrances.

She was also the first to create the quilted handbag, the two-tone shoe, and the bell-bottomed trousers.

Throughout her career, Chanel was highly successful and her fashion house is still one of the most recognizable and influential brands in the world.

In 1971, she was named one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century by the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
