Guglielmo Marconi (born 1874) was an Italian entrepreneur who was known for his pioneering work in wireless telegraphy.

His early experiments in radio waves began in 1895 which led to the development of wireless communication.

In 1901, Marconi successfully sent a radio signal across the Atlantic Ocean, which marked the first transatlantic wireless communication.

Marconi was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1909.

He then went on to establish the Marconi International Marine Communication Company in 1913.

In the following years, Marconi established radio stations in various countries and cities.

He also established the Marconi Research Centre in England which is now known as the Marconi Institute of Technology.
