Ingvar Kamprad (born in 1926) was a Swedish entrepreneur who founded IKEA.
He was born in a small farm in the Swedish province of Småland and was the fourth child of seven.
At the age of five, Kamprad started his entrepreneurial journey, selling matches to his neighbors.
He established IKEA in 1943, selling pens, wallets and picture frames.
In 1948, he started adding furniture to his product range and by 1956, Kamprad opened the first IKEA store in Sweden.
In the 1970s, IKEA began to expand internationally, opening stores in numerous countries in Europe, North America and Asia.
Kamprad stepped down as Chairman of IKEA in 1986, and retired from the company in 2013.
