The Michelin brothers, Andre and Edouard, were born in 1853 and 1859 respectively in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
In 1889, they established a rubber manufacturing company, Michelin & Cie, which was to become the world's largest tire manufacturer.
In 1900, they published the first edition of their famous Michelin Guide, offering hotel and restaurant recommendations and maps.
Throughout the early 20th century, they opened numerous production factories across Europe and the United States.
In 1934, they launched the first radial tire, the Michelin X, which revolutionized the tire industry.
In 1944, they launched their first air-cushioned tire, the Michelin X Air.
In 1946, they created the Michelin Man, an iconic symbol of the Michelin brand.
