Ole Kirk Christiansen (1891-1958) was a Danish carpenter and toy maker who founded the Lego Group in 1932.

He was born in 1891 in Filskov, Denmark and grew up in a family of craftsmen, carpenters, and masons.

He initially made wooden toys and household items, such as stepladders, ironing boards, and wooden blocks.

In 1934, Ole Kirk invented the 'Automatic Binding Brick', which became the basis for the modern Lego brick.

From 1947 onwards, Lego began to focus on plastic toys and the company quickly grew in popularity.

In 1958, Ole Kirk Christiansen passed away, leaving the company to his son, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen.

Under Godtfred's leadership, the Lego Group became one of the world's most successful toy companies.
