Rudolf Diesel was born in 1858 in Paris, France.

He was a German inventor and mechanical engineer who developed the diesel engine in 1897.

He studied thermodynamics at the Technical University of Munich and worked briefly as a refrigeration engineer.

Diesel was a forward-thinking entrepreneur who sought to find ways to improve the efficiency of internal combustion engines.

He was granted a patent for the diesel engine in 1900 and founded the world's first company to produce diesel engines in 1906.

While travelling to London in 1912, he mysteriously disappeared and was presumed to have died by suicide.

His legacy lives on in the form of the diesel engine, which is used in automobiles, trains, ships, and other machines.
