Soichiro Honda (1906-1991) was a Japanese entrepreneur and industrialist who founded the Honda Motor Company.
He was born in the small village of Komyo in the province of Shizuoka, Japan, in 1906.
After graduating from high school in 1922, Honda moved to Tokyo where he worked for an auto parts manufacturer.
In 1937, he founded the Honda Technical Research Institute to develop small-sized engines for motorbikes and automobiles.
During World War II, Honda focused his efforts on the war effort, manufacturing engines and other components for the Japanese military.
After the war, Honda resumed his work on motorbikes and automobiles, with the first Honda motorbike being sold in 1949.
Honda went on to become one of the most influential entrepreneurs of the 20th century, with his business ventures creating millions of jobs and economic growth.
