Akbar was the third Mughal Emperor and one of the most powerful rulers in Indian history. He ruled for 49 years from 1556 until 1605 when he died at the age of 63.
Akbar is credited with expanding the Mughal Empire from Afghanistan in the north to the Deccan Plateau down south. He also unified most of the Indian subcontinent under one government.
He was an able administrator and military strategist and his rule is remembered for its religious tolerance and cultural achievements.
Akbar’s son, Jehangir, succeeded him as the fourth Mughal Emperor in 1605.
Jehangir was a successful ruler, who continued the policies of his father and expanded the Mughal Empire even further.
During his reign, Jehangir made the Mughal Empire more powerful and prosperous. He also encouraged the arts, science, and commerce and supported many religious and cultural activities.
He is known for his patronage of the arts and his building projects, such as the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore.
