History of India, 1766 AD, First Anglo-Mysore War

The First Anglo-Mysore War was fought between the Kingdom of Mysore and the British East India Company from 1766 to 1769.

Mysore was ruled by King Hyder Ali who wanted to expand his kingdom and gain control of the region.

The British East India Company, led by Lord Robert Clive, was determined to expand its influence in the region and strengthen its control over trade.

In 1766, the British invaded Mysore and captured many of its forts and cities.

The Mysore army, led by Hyder Ali, fought back fiercely and was able to recapture some of the cities.

In 1767, the British signed a treaty with the Kingdom of Mysore, giving them control over the city of Bangalore.

However, the conflict continued and Hyder Ali and his son, Tipu Sultan, continued to fight against the British.
