In 320 AD, Chandragupta I was the founder of the Gupta Empire, a great ancient Indian dynasty.
He established the Gupta Dynasty after overthrowing the Nanda Dynasty in Magadha.
He was the grandson of Sri Gupta, who had established a small kingdom in the region of Magadha.
Chandragupta I was a great conqueror and expanded the Gupta Empire by annexing the regions of Prayaga, Saketa and Kausambi.
He was also a great patron of art and literature and was responsible for the development of the classical Sanskrit language.
Under his rule, the Gupta Empire witnessed a period of prosperity and peace and was known as the Golden Age of India.
Chandragupta I was succeeded by his son, Samudragupta, who also succeeded in expanding the empire.
