B. M. Munjal (born in 1921) was an Indian Entrepreneur, best known for founding Hero MotoCorp, one of the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers.

He was born in Kamalia, a small town in Punjab, Pakistan.

He obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Punjab in 1945 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Delhi in 1952.

Munjal started his career with the automotive component manufacturer, J.K. Industries.

In 1956, he and his brothers formed a joint venture with the Japanese company Honda to manufacture motorcycles in India.

The company was initially called Hero Honda Motors and Munjal served as its first managing director.

In 2011, the Munjal brothers decided to part ways with Honda and the company was renamed Hero MotoCorp.
