Dhirubhai Ambani (1932-2002) was an Indian entrepreneur who founded Reliance Industries, one of India's largest conglomerates.

Born in Chorwad, Gujarat, he started his entrepreneurial journey in 1958 by trading in spices, yarn, and other commodities.

In 1966, he established Reliance Commercial Corporation, which later became Reliance Industries Limited.

He expanded his business into several areas such as textiles, energy, petrochemicals, and telecommunications.

He was known for his innovative and unconventional business strategies, which helped him become one of the most successful businessmen in India.

He also had a great flair for public relations and marketing and was responsible for popularizing several brands, such as Vimal and Reliance.

He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award in 2000.
