He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Avantha Group, a global diversified business conglomerate.

Gautam Thapar is a noted philanthropist and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2012 for his contribution towards Trade & Industry.

He is a member of the Board of Governors of Indian School of Business, World Economic Forum and the United Nations Global Compact.

Under his leadership, the Avantha Group has emerged as a leading global business conglomerate with presence in more than 60 countries and across 6 continents.

Gautam Thapar was ranked 23rd in the list of India’s most powerful people in 2017 by India Today.

He is a keen sportsman and has represented India in Squash at the Asian level.
