N. R. Narayana Murthy is an Indian entrepreneur who was born in 1946.

He is best known for his role as the co-founder of the Indian IT giant, Infosys.

Murthy was the CEO of Infosys from 1981 to 2002, and the Chairman from 2002 to 2011.

He also served as the Chairman of the Board from 2011 to 2013.

Murthy is also the founder of the Murthy Classical Library of India, which publishes rare Indian literature.

In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award.

In 2013, he was listed as one of the 12 greatest entrepreneurs of all time by Fortune magazine.
