Ratan Tata is an Indian entrepreneur, born in 1937, and is the former Chairman of the Tata Group.

Ratan Tata was the Chairman of the Tata Group, India's largest conglomerate, from 1991 to 2012.

He is credited with transforming Tata Group from a largely India-centric company to a global business.

He was responsible for the acquisition of prominent brands such as Jaguar and Land Rover in 2008.

He has led the development of innovative products such as the Tata Nano and Tata Indica.

He also founded the Tata Education and Development Trust, which provides educational opportunities to disadvantaged communities.

Ratan Tata was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honour, in 2008.
