Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 in a log cabin in Kentucky to Thomas and Nancy Lincoln.

In 1860, he was elected president of the United States and served until 1865.
During his presidency, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that all slaves in the United States were to be freed.
