Harvey Firestone (1868-1938) was an American entrepreneur who founded the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1900.

He was born in 1868 to a farming family in Columbiana, Ohio.

After attending school at Mount Union College, Firestone worked for the Columbus Buggy Company in 1888.

In 1900, he founded the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio and the company quickly became a leader in the rubber industry.

Firestone was a pioneer in the development of pneumatic tires and the first to mass-produce them for the automobile industry.

He was also a pioneer in marketing and advertising and was a major supporter of Henry Ford's automobile company.

In 1930, Firestone was awarded the Medal of Merit by President Herbert Hoover for his contributions to the automobile industry.
