Mike Krieger was born in 1986 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

He moved to the United States in 2004, and attended Stanford University, where he graduated with a degree in symbolic systems.

In 2010, he co-founded Instagram with his classmate Kevin Systrom.

Krieger held the position of Chief Technical Officer at Instagram, and was responsible for the company's product design and engineering.

In April 2012, Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 billion, making Krieger and Systrom instant millionaires.

In 2018, Krieger and Systrom left Instagram and Facebook.

Since leaving, Krieger has focused his efforts on philanthropic projects and investments in early-stage startups.
