William Boeing, born in 1881, was an American entrepreneur and founder of the Boeing Company.

He attended Yale University and later moved to Seattle in 1906 to pursue a career in timber harvesting.

In 1916, Boeing founded the Pacific Aero Products Co., which later became the Boeing Company.

He created the first commercial passenger plane in 1927, which allowed for commercial flights to become a reality.

He also developed the first of the famed "Boeing" series of planes in the 1930s.

In 1943, Boeing was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame for his contributions to commercial air travel.

After his death in 1956, the Boeing Company continued to grow and innovate, becoming one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world.
